behavior when exiting field edit with arrow key instead of enter key

If I add some text to a field cell (e.g. item field) by typing it into the field, and then press the down key to move down one cell, the added typed text gets saved.   Even though I did not press Enter to save the edits.

However, if I Ctrl+V paste some additional text into the field (e.g. a link), and then press the down key to exit the cell, without first pressing the Enter key, the pasted text does not get saved.  Pasted text gets saved only if I press Enter.

ctrl+up/down to select non-contiguous items/fields

Say you want to select multiple non-contiguous items in a grid to act on - to paste a value in a field(s), or to add/change a value in a field using the properties pane - would it make sense to enable the ctrl+up/down keys for such a non-contiguous selection?  I see that we can do this using Ctrl+click, but I like to have keyboard options whenever possible.

I see that Shift+up/down and Shift+left/right work to extend/contract selection.  I know that Ctrl+left/right is used for collapse/expand.

automatically create new tag from auto-assign rule?

If a field has an auto-assign rule to apply a tag to an item (e.g. "AM:#ExampleTag=1", would it be a good idea to create the tag automatically if it does not already exist, when the rule is triggered?

This might make it easier to associate existing Y/N Fields with corresponding Tags.  I could go through my existing Y/N fields, and give each one an Auto-Assign rule to assign a tag corresponding to the Y/N field.  Then I could "touch" each of the Y/N fields to assign the tags.

Surface Auto-Arrange enhancements

Now that each Grid can have a Surface sub-view, InfoQube has become, in my view, the premiere concept-mapping tool. I would love to see it get even better. There are a number of ways that I think Surface view could be improved, but the main issue is Auto-Arrange. When I have lots of items and multi-directional links, Auto-Arrange often overlays items on top of each other and/or criss-crosses links in a confusing jumble. I think I remember hearing that that the software behind Auto-Arrange is a 3rd party component, so it may be hard to improve, but I'm just mentioning this here.

Handling repeating events in grids

Hi IQ Users!

A long standing issue with repeating events and tasks was how to handle them outside of the Calendar.  That is, what event date should be used?

The easy and common choice is to use the first instance and this is what IQ did. Ecco also did it that way. Google Tasks generates new items a few days prior to the next instance date.

The proposed change would be to compute the next event instance when the item is marked done. More precisely, when a change is made to the Done field, the value would be modified to be the next instance after the Done date.

When Displaying Several Grids together, Please indicate when the Main Grid is Active.

I am displaying several detached grids together.

Below is an example of the main Grid (ToDo) and one of the detached Grids (Inbox).
I am often believing that the main Grid is active, while it is not, and I make changes to the wrong Grid, which is active (e.g. the Inbox).

Copy item(s') text without the "IQitems" data type / format being put on the clipboard

Pierre, could you please add a way to copy the text of one or several selected items without putting the IQitems format / data type on the clipboard? I would like to be able to differentiate programmatically between what I wanted to do when copying rather than having to decide each time when pasting whether I want to paste items or just item text.

item editor - back and forward buttons

Often I work in a specific grid, adding one item after another, moving back and forth between them.  It occurs to me that it might be convenient to stay in the Item Editor for this kind of work.  But then you'd want the easiest possible way of moving between items.  A forward button would be good to move to the next item down in the grid, and a back button would move to the next item up.  When either button is clicked, any changes made to the item would be saved.  And of course there should be appropriate keyboard shortcuts for forward/back.  Or maybe it is already possible to do this from

Option to set Doc Pane width independently for each grid

If not implemented yet, a feature request:

I use doc pane a lot for most of my grids. Grids' column numbers vary a lot. I have to keep doc pane narrow for grids with many columns. For others I don't need to. So, if I could arrange width of each grid independently, it'd be wonderful.

Thanks,
