Form Suggestions

Submitted by WayneK on 2018/07/29 12:18
This is a frequent task for me:

• Start with a "mixed topic" grid (eg Inbox) that contains a large number of items covering different topics.
• Create new topic grids and assign items to them so they can be cleared out of the "mixed topic" grid
• As new grids are created, assign the grid fields to a form to make it easier to move items to the new topic grids.

Since this is a common (at least for me) task that's tedious, I look for ways to make it go faster.  I have a couple of suggestions.

1) Allow grids to be dragged directly into forms.

I've said before that I find the process of adding fields to forms to be awkward.  I suggest adding the ability to directly drag a grid to the forms section and have the source field show up there.  Of course, it doesn't have to be a drag; it could

Grid Closing Problem

Submitted by WayneK on 2018/07/28 15:39
I created a new file using "save as" and am cleaning it up by deleting grids I no longer need.  I can't figure out why the following is happening:

1) Manage grids>right-click grid>delete
2) Save

When I perform the above steps, all my open grids close.  It's happened several times and I can't figure out why.

Forum down time expected...

Hi IQUsers,

The IQ web hosting service (IX web hosting) is shutting down (acquired by Site 5) and it seems that this is being done in a very poor way.

What this means to us will be rebuilding this site, or a similar one, onto another server.

For you, it means that the community web site will soon be down. Please use the backup site until this issue is resolved: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/infoqube

No universal clipper?

Submitted by WayneK on 2018/07/26 16:45
Could someone clarify where we're at on using the clipper?  I know that the Firefox clipper stopped working when I updated to Firefox Quantum, but I was still able to use the universal clipper (though I had to manually copy/paste the url).

Since I've updated to InfoQube 109Pre6, the universal clipper stopped working, too.  Right now, I have no functioning clipper and have to do everything manually.

Search grid - can't scroll up to see first rows of grid

You might want to test this out  I did a Live Search, and then clicked the "Show Items in Search Grid" button.  The items were displayed in the Search Grid but I was unable to scroll up to see the first 8 or so items at the top of the grid.  I was finally able to do so by pressing Ctrl+Shift+1 so that all subitems would be collapsed.  Then I was able to see all the items.

Using 109Pre6.

UPDATE: I just tried the "Show Items in Search Grid" button again, and this time everything was OK.  Now I notice that the item I couldn't scroll up past was a subitem at the 9th level (I know, it's nuts), and above it were the 8 levels of context parents.  It was those context parents I couldn't scroll up to see.  But now the 8 context parents displayed just fine.

Maybe this was just a case of some kind "user error".  http://www

"item created" column shows text pasted into "item" column (109Pre4)

Submitted by jimspoon on 2018/07/17 14:45
Weird little bug, but probably doesn't affect anything.

I pasted some text from several existing items into another location in the grid, creating a new item for each copied item.

I have the "Item Created" field in the Grid as a column, just to the right of the Item field.

After pasting, the "Item Created" column shows the same text I pasted into the Item field.

The Item Created field in the Values section does show the creation Date and Time as it should.

can't switch to another window while grid cell in edit mode

This morning I'm seeing an odd behavior; not sure if IQ or my software config is causing it.

If I am editing a grid cell using the WYSIWYG editor, I can't switch to another program.  If I try, the cursor immediately jumps back to IQ the cell being edited.

This behavior does not occur if I am not using the WYSIWYG editor, or if I am using the Shift+F2 Popup Editor.
