Display Mode Question

Submitted by David_H on 2016/12/29 14:47
In most of my grids I've done a lot of outlining.  When I switch to Flat List, context parents not turned on, I don't really get a flat list, because the child items don't have a value for the grid (and therefore don't display in a flat list other than under the parent item).  3 questions:

1. Would it be possible to create a flat display mode where they do (i.e. this is an IQ feature request).

2.

  • New: HTML pane: Ctrl + M toggles Browse Mode

  • Fixed: Clipper: When sending a clipping using EmailToIQ failed, the dialog closed with an error message. Users had to clip again.

Links don't work on first click

Submitted by WayneK on 2016/12/28 17:52
I guess I'll throw out this little oddity in case someone else is experiencing the same thing.  For the past couple of days, when I click on an internal link, the page refreshes, but remains on the same page.  When I click a second time, it takes me to the linked item.  Same thing with favorites: on first click, it refreshes the view but remains on the same grid; on second click it works correctly.

Has happened 20+ times.  I re-started InfoQube and it appears to be better but still happens occasionally

InfoQube & Spreadsheets

Submitted by WayneK on 2016/12/26 21:16
Has anyone else given thought to how best to  use spreadsheets with InfoQube?  I've worked through various possibilities but haven't been able to come up with a satisfactory solution.  I'll post just a few points and see if anyone is interested in discussing it further.

1) Some info is best organized in simple spreadsheet layout.

2) Doing this in grids is difficult because each layout requires a different set of columns.  I could create and link to a separate grid for each layout but that would create many dozens of grids.

3) HTML panes have tables, but I find them awkward and frustrating to use.

4) I could put the info in Excel and link to it from InfoQube, which I've been doing.  It would be nice to have it displayed directly in InfoQube but I haven't figured out how to do that.  Unlike PDF's, InfoQube can't open and display spreadsheets.&nbsp

How do I get missing items to show in a grid?

Submitted by ChrisC on 2016/12/26 16:53
I have items I have input and now don't show. Hoping I can get some help here.

I can see in the Properties pane of the parent I put them in that InfoQube has them as children.
I click on them there and they show in the Scratch grid.
Or if I hoist the parent I can see them where I put them.

How do I get them to show without hoisting or finding them in the scratch grid?
I am befuddled. I'm sure it's a simple solution. I just don't know what it is. Thanks for the help!

Can I change the default delete option?

Submitted by WayneK on 2016/12/26 14:56
When I delete an item, 99% of the time I want it deleted from the database.  Each time, the delete dialogue comes up with "Remove from this Parent only" selected.
I have to then move the selection to "erase entirely".

Is there a way to change the default selection to "erase entirely".  Or is there any other way to delete in one step without having to manually pick from the options each time?

Can't paste image in grid

Submitted by WayneK on 2016/12/26 14:31
When I try to paste an image in a grid item, it flashes but nothing happens.  This was an issue before and got fixed but it appears to be not working again.

Procedure: 1) screen capture an image; 2) select grid item; 3) CTRL-V.  Note: image paste does work in the HTML pane.

Update:  when I tried to paste an image in the HTML pane, InfoQube crashed.  When I re-started, the previous images pasted in the grid showed up properly.  But when I tried to paste new images, I got the same blanks as before (item shows a subitem where the image should be, but nothing is there).

Home Grid

Submitted by WayneK on 2016/12/25 20:32
When I set up a hyperlink, I almost always want the linked item to open in its assigned grid, not in the scratch grid.  To accomplish this, much of the time I have to open the ItemHomeGrid field and manually assign the item to it.

I know this was discussed previously and I thought the assignment of home grids was going to be made automatic.  Why can't we have an item assigned to the grid that it's created in?   If it needs to be changed after that, it could be done manually.

Once a pane has been added to a tab/grid, it doesn't seem possible to remove it completely.

1- Open grid (A)
2- Open another grid (B) and "copy view"
3- "Paste" grid B in grid A
4- Save or close grid A and reopen it just to make sure grid B is still there, that everything is working as expected
5- Focus on the grid B pane (inside A), and close the pane (using "X" button at right of pane) so that grid A is now without any added panes
5b- Grid A should now be a normal grid, without any panes.

6-Save and close grid A
7- Reopen grid A : the grid B pane reappears.

(didn't find any workaround, except replacing grid B with some other grid (like an empty one) or just closing the reappearing pane each time.)
