New Calendar component ...

Submitted by Pierre_Admin on 2013/06/27 18:34
The current calendar component is an Outlook clone and is seriously limiting. Namely:
  1. Does not support drag and drop of items from a grid to the calendar (say to create a meeting for a given contact)
  2. Display is limited to pre-defined time scales
  3. Can only select one event at a time (move, resize, etc)
  4. No year view
  5. Does not support using the mouse to move around the calendar days
  6. Does not support filtering
  7. Does not support HTML tags or icons
  8. Does not support ad-hoc display of items with date values (only "scheduled" items)
We've decided to switch to another calendar component which support all of these. It is from the same supplier as the grid.

The decision was not an easy one as the current calendar component is not bad, and significant time was invested in integrating it with InfoQube.

Responsiveness in IQ

Submitted by Jon on 2013/06/27 09:43
I occasionally have to use Ecco to access some archived data. The responsiveness of Ecco is impressive. Returning to IQ after a session with Ecco is (I am resorting to hyperbole here) like swimming in molasses. Is there anything that can be done to improve this situation? I can accept tht this may be a limitation of the program, but I am hoping otherwise.

This is not to detract from what Pierre has built. I am just wondering if performance can be further improved.

graphing from csv files (maybe I should use spreadsheet)

Submitted by jan_rifkinson on 2013/06/23 12:43
But anyway, here's the need

On my phone (& my wife's phone) we are keeping track of what we spend daily so we can see where it goes & where we might trim.
The program is very simple which I like.  goo.gl/q4xhY

Enter a number, it automatically adds today's date & offers categories & note
It then immediately converts that data into a line graph (very neat)
I can export data to csv file

Question:
I'd like to merge our two files & represent spending graphically
Can IQ do this?

Clones

Submitted by Jon on 2013/06/22 16:50
I would like to disconnect some clones. Is there an attribute that can be turned off? I currently cut and paste as a new item but this is awkward.

Also, is there an easy way to identify clones? Is there some field that can be displayed?

Thank you.

All day / untimed events

Submitted by Jon on 2013/06/07 14:52
Something is really odd and not working right with untimed events.

1. I choose an item in my grid, right click and create an event. Create event dialogue pops up.
2. Make this an all day / untimed event. Do not specify any date. It will default to today.
3. Click OK to create the event.
4. Go to the event in the calendar and double click on it to re-open the dialogue.
5. Look at the dates. Huh,, what's this? The end date is a day before the start date. I must have crossed the International Date Line.

I have been using IQ for a long time now having migrated from Ecco Pro. These surprises (and others - see my other threads) are worrisome and wearing thin. I know Ecco's limitations, but at least it is rock solid. I am seriously considering the unthinkable.

Property Pane: Tree view

Submitted by Jon on 2013/06/06 15:36
In the All Fields section of the Property Pane I have arranged several  fields as sub categories. I can see they are subordinate when I activate Tree View. How can I recreate or enable this structure with my forms? In other words I would what was created in All Fields to be seen in Forms. It seems like this should be possible.

Thank you for your help.

Tagged items

Submitted by Jon on 2013/06/05 11:34
I find that I am using tagged items to speed up data entry for frequently used items. I am not sure that I am using this as intended because inserting the tagged items actually inserts clones which I do not always want. Editing the items or adding sub items in my new entry is immediately seen in all the others including the tagged items list. Is there a way to detach particular items so they are no longer clones?

I know that I can copy each tagged item from the properties pane and paste it into the outline as a new item, but it becomes clunky since each tag must be copied/pasted individually.

Thank you.

Auto edit bug?

Submitted by Jon on 2013/06/04 16:52
I just began using auto edit and really like it. It make data entry very efficient especially if you favor the keyboard. Tom explained that this was an accommodation for Ecco users, so I guess that includes me.

Auto edit seems to insert unwanted carriage returns either before, after, or before and after the entry. These unwanted returns need to be cleaned up which is not good for productivity.

To remedy this, I tried activating down arrow to create a new item and disabling enter creating a new item in various combinations. Nothing seemed to help. Perhaps I am doing something wrong.
