how do i bring back the grid name buttons on the left edge?

Submitted by jimspoon on 2010/06/30 19:08
Sorry for such a noob question.  I'm just starting on a new attempt to learn IQ so I can leave Ecco behind.

I was tinkering with the elements of the IQ UI, and I made the grid selection toolbar, together with the buttons for each grid, disappear.  I've been trying to bring it back, but I haven't been able to figure out how.

I did display the Grid Context toolbar and drag it to the left edge, but that doesn't bring back the grid buttons.

Node information disappearing

Submitted by jcsl on 2010/06/29 08:28
This is my first post, and I should first say that this program is great!

I have noticed that if I save the file with a different name and in a different location, the current node information completely disappears. Is this a known issue? I know this is a beta version, but I just want to know if there are operations that may accidentally delete info.

Looking forward to the final release!

<SOLVED> Can't open my file

Submitted by jsolka on 2010/06/29 08:26
First my little intro: my back-up haven't worked properly for a while, meaning that even if I chose my back-up files to be automatically deleted after 2 days, they never did. Timestamp is checked, autobackup is adjusted to 10 min, all other boxes are unchecked. I have all my IQ on USB stick.  It never bothered me that much, but today:
I had a problem with displaying HTML pane after showing a searched items as hoisted in the same grid. I hit repair, and it worked, but then I checked it again, and it didn't work. So I hit repair again, and after that my file got stuck. I closed the IQ, reopened but it was stuck, showing that it was "loading". I downloaded IQ again, and tried to open the file but I couldn't. Then I tried open my back up files and I could. Only not I noticed the last back-up file is from June 6th. So I really don't have any recent backup. BIG PROBLEM!

Some important bugs/matters waiting to be fixed...

Hi Pierre, I hope you're doing well.

It's already been a while since the last update and there are a few annoying (and pretty major) issues waiting to be fixed. A few minor things have been cleared it appears, but I'm waiting for these other ones.... those that have an impact on my data and are complete time wasters.

Speaking of time wasters, I just posted something concerning conditional formatting as this remains a bit of a mystery to me : why does it work, why it doesn't , etc. I still have no clue. Too many invisible mechanisms into which I don't have any insight.  And then there are the dangerous inheritance problems and column equation problems, plus other pretty significant problems already in Mantis (and mentioned in the "What is Pierre working on these days ?

Conditional Formatting : not easy to use

Submitted by Armando on 2010/06/28 01:28
Hello,

I spent at least 12 h last week trying to homogenize formatting and colors in my DB and I haven't succeeded. I'm exhausted.

Sometimes conditional formats work, sometimes they don't.

I checked that all the necessary columns are there in the right grids, etc. and they are, etc.
I'm not an IQ newbie and so I think I should be able to have conditional formatting work properly by now.

I have a few questions :

1- Formatting seem to proceed as "IF" (e.g. : if notes<>0 then BackColor=&h6EECFF, if task<>0 then BackColor=&h00DDFF, etc.).

[Discuss] 12.10 Navigating in IQ using keyboard shortcuts

Armando,
I quote you from -- link to nonexistent node ID 1724 -- :
(Note that it is also possible to "Show all" sub items under an item, regardless the filter -- alt+"right-click" will do it, but it's possible to configure a shortcut key to accomplish that action. No default shortcut key as been set yet.)

I dont understand the bit 'alt+"right-click" will do it' -
Right-click being mouse but Alt+ ?

Filter history "memory" limit -- On purpose ?

Submitted by Armando on 2010/06/22 14:29
I noticed a few weeks ago that after a certain number of filters I insert in the filter text box, the history list stops to record new ones.
Is that on purpose or is it a bug?

In any case, may I suggest  that :

1- it keeps rolling and deletes the oldest ones "instead of the newest" ?
2- And maybe could it keep the last 100 entries  instead of 50 (when one changes filters a lot, it moves rapidly).

Thanks.

(P.S. : also, Pierre, you said a while ago that you'd add the possibility of "commenting" the filters inside the text box... That would certainly be useful to describe long filters or for other purposes -- it was in mantis (269) but got deleted at some point. Would it be useful to put it back or do you have other plans ?)

F11 is hard to grasp.

Submitted by Armando on 2010/06/22 13:12
I use it a lot, but only because I need a quick way to see both HTML and properties pane and then hide them, without loosing the focus in the grid.
For some reason, it's the only keyboard shortcut that will insure me that when panes are hidden the focus won't go somewhere strange.

But, when properties pane and HTML pane are both opened, one below the other (sticky mode) F11's actions are hard to remember and grasp.

1- why does F11 detach the HTML pane and not the properties pane when it has focus (not that it bothers me that much, but I wonder why as it makes its mechanism hard to grasp) ?

2- why none of the panes have focus when they appear using F11 ?

3- Then...
