Summary of my issues left in 0.9.25Pre-Rel24

Submitted by Jibz on 2010/05/20 03:34
First off, a big thanks to Pierre for his work on the new pre-release and all his nice feedback on the forums, and to all the other users here who have been very constructive and positive .

Since I've made quite a few posts over the past couple of weeks while trying to get started with IQ, I thought it would be a good idea to post a summary of what issues I've commented on that still appear to be outstanding in the latest release.

Manage grids bug : Modifying the name of a newly created grid isn't possible if focus is moved to another grid and back again.

Submitted by Armando on 2010/05/19 00:27
If you create a grid in the manage grid dialog, and move the focus to another grid name, you can't come back and modify the name of the new grid. The name of the previous grid will show, whatever you do.

Anybody can confirm that ? I can enter these in Mantis if necessary

Manage grid dialog : multiple grid creation isn't possible (+ other related bug)

Submitted by Armando on 2010/05/19 00:25
you can't create more than one grid at a time.

If you do :

(a) if  you move the focus to another grid name, you can't come back and modify the name of the new grid.
(b)  The first created grid will show, but not the other ones, after you close and reopen the manage grids dialog (of course they won't show in the grid menu either.).

Anybody can confirm that ? I can enter this in Mantis if necessary

(Minor) Tooltips suggestions : 1-in properties pane : long time to appear (and sometimes don't) 2- Grid tabs : no tooltips ?

Submitted by Armando on 2010/05/18 11:29
Since we've had another tooltip "bug", I thought about mentioning these ones too (been in my list for a while)

1- The tooltips in the properties pane take a long while (about 4s) to appear, compared to others
They're immensely useful, so it'd be good if they could appear a bit quicker (and reliably -- sometimes they don't appear, but I'm not sure why as it doesn't happen too frequently... I think it has to do with  the grid focus)

2- On mouse over grid tabs and buttons : it would be nice to have the various grid info in a popup. I think it used to work, but it doesn't here (well, I don't use the "grid buttons" an a toolbar, so I can't tell about this one, but they don't appear in the grid menu.

Can add to mantis if confirmed, wanted, etc.

Tool tips in the Add Item dialog

Submitted by Jibz on 2010/05/18 10:38
Another minor issue.

Some of the tool tips displayed when hovering over the check boxes of the Add Item dialog (Ctrl-N) appear to be wrong.

Three of them, including the assign to In-Box check box display "MHT keeps local copy of style sheets and images".

The assign to Current Grid check box displays a tool tip with a line break that doesn't seem to work.

Highlight button for HTML Editor, like in Word

Submitted by Jibz on 2010/05/18 07:14
As far as I can see there is no button available in the HTML Editor that works like the Highlight button in MS Word. You can change the background color, but that involves a few steps including choosing the actual color every time.

If there is indeed no such button, I would like to suggest adding it. Basically, you select some text and press the button (or shortcut) and it will change the background color to yellow (or whatever color you chose). The button has a drop down that lets the user select a different color if desired.

HTML pane doesn't save content

Submitted by Jibz on 2010/05/18 05:47
Ok, I am certain I am missing something totally obvious here, but I have been failing at adding a comment to an item with the HTML pane for 10 minutes.

I have a grid open with a number of items. I open the HTML pane, and select an item, then I write some stuff into the HTML pane. I navigate to a different item in the grid, and back to the first one, and the HTML pane is empty.

Auto-save is enabled in the file menu, but I still tried the Save button, still nothing.

I tried Create a new HTML document, still doesn't remember a thing.

I tried checking the ItemHasHTML property, still nothing.

What am I doing wrong?

Map View dialog cancel

Submitted by Jibz on 2010/05/17 03:57
This is as minor a report as it gets, but here it goes ..

When you click Map View in the Grid menu and you have selected a different item than last time, you get a dialog asking you if you want to use the last or the current item. Closing this dialog instead of selecting one still opens the map view. Imho that should cancel the map view instead.

New Grid

Submitted by Jibz on 2010/05/17 03:51
I would like to suggest adding "New Grid" to the main Grid menu. It was the first place I went to try and create a new grid. The second place was the File menu, but under New there you can only create databases.

I know there's a button for it in the "grid bar" and in the Grid button on the toolbar, but as far as the main menu goes, the Grid menu is the logical place I think. A sub-menu of the View menu is certainly not.

I don't know if it might be worth adding a "New Item" to the Item menu as well?
