Add link to Item field when making web-clipping ?

Submitted by Tom on 2009/09/30 05:40
When clipping web content (or 'bookmarking' a webpage in IQ) it would be nice to have the option to create a link in the item field.

Lately I've added to my clipboard extender's 'favourites'
but it's very awkward copying and pasting the url and then adding the text

I havent really thought this through (throwing it out there so-to-speak) but something like an add link tick-box which would make the url etc wrap around the test in the Item field ?

I couldnt find this in Mantis so will add at some stage unless someone knows of it lurking there somewhere

Backup folder should be created if doesn't exist + IQ should warn user if backup can't be performed.

To make a long story short : I erased 2500 items this afternoon... Yup, I made a mistake. And discovered, much too late, that I had no "recent" backup -- I did move my backup folder at some point (not sure why I did that, but I did...) and IQ didn't create a new one to replace it...

Fortunately, yes, I had a 1.5 days old backup from my external HD -- ironically I usually backup twice a day, but not this time... :(.
Close enough, but it took me almost 6 hours to put back the older DB close to how it was just before the disaster. :)

In any case, I wonder if IQ could :

1- create the backup folder (if it doesn't exist)
2- and warn the user if it can't backup for some (other) reason.

That would really help avoiding embarrassing situations...

Voilà.

Single line display

Submitted by Jon on 2009/09/28 09:10
Hi Pierre:

You had addressed this a long time ago.

I would like to make my outline more manageable. Many items are multiple lines which makes navigation somewhat difficult. If displayed as single lines, many items appear blank or display lines other than the first. The first lines generally give an indication of what folllows, so their proper display is important.

I wonder if there is any progress or hope for a fix?

Thanks.

Could inheritance or hierarchical sum (parent/children...) be conditional ?

Submitted by Armando on 2009/09/27 22:25
(This is actually both a suggestion and a question.)

In other words : inheritance or sum would "propagate" only when certain fields are ticked.

That would be great as it would prevent propagation of hierarchical sums/inheritance where it's not needed or not even... not wanted at all.

Grids got transfered from one DB to another without any intervention !

Submitted by Armando on 2009/09/26 16:53
Something really weird happend , Pierre : these empty grids opening got transfered/copied (litteraly) to the next DB I opened. Opening a new DB copied new grids from the other DB !

The "Filters", "ProjectGantt" and "adressBook_" in this test DB are grids from another DB -- my own.
The "ProjectGantt"is a grid I created yesterday, and it's impossible that I got it in "there", in this other DB, with exactly the same settings (filters, etc.)

On the positive side, I got a new feature for free... Cloning/importing grids... If only I could have the control on that one. :)

I could put this one in Mantis... But can't reproduce it on demand.

Grids buttons (in the view->grids submenu / "views" toolbar ) don't work well when loading multiple databases

[edited]

Nobody ever complains about that, but it does it all the time. I don't have anything special to do.
Maybe I'm one of the few with 2 or 3 DB (mantis issue 641 ).

[EDIT : I think it has to do with the 1st opened grid containing MORE grids than the 2nd one that's opened.... I can now reproduce that . Can someone confirm ?]

not able to save any configuration for gantt charts on newly created grids

Submitted by Armando on 2009/09/26 00:55
Anything I set for start/end date fields, etc. is not saved. (Older grids for which gantt was already set are ok)
[Edit : Sorry, it was late last night when I wrote that : I'm talking about Start/end date fields in the Manage Grids dialog, gantt chart settings -- edits in yellow]

Anybody can confirm that ?

Need advice on the best way to use a few default fields --> EndDate + StartDate, TaskDate

Submitted by Armando on 2009/09/25 19:56
I didn't find any clear indication on the best way to use these fields and their function, especially since there are other similar fields like TaskActStart & TaskActEnd.

1- StartDate (+EndDate &TaskDate) : What are these for exactly ? How do they work / are related with/to TaskActStart & TaskActEnd ?

[edit : guess it's for billing ?]

2- Also a few words about :

TaskID & NextTaskID : I understand they're linked to the gantt chart and help understand how tasks are linked (Linking tasks together using the gantt chart will automatically assign tasks IDs). But are there other "functions" to these fields ?
