specifying the "Search" or "Scratch" grid in Grid management window don't stick between IQ restarts (portable version)

As reported here : -- link to nonexistent node ID 304 --,  the changes done in the grid management window to specify the "Search" or "Scratch" grid for searching/quick search results etc. (View>Grids>Manage grids, and in the dialog : Options>Default grid for search results...) don't stick.

I tried many times and it's always reproduceable. Is it only me ?

I'm using the portable version.

Copying items

Submitted by jsolka on 2009/06/30 06:59
I thought I knew how to do it, but I probably don't. I copied an item, 2-nd option (selected item and all subitems, XML format) than switched grids, and wanted to paste it, but nothing happened. This was a simple grid with only "item" field. I could do it by dragging, but still, my question is: why it didn't work by copy & paste method?

Crashing Any Time Entry is Made in HTML Pane

And I mean anything, just moving the cursor to the HTML window and pressing the space button.  This happened once before and I had to revert to an earlier backup.  However I am very confused this time because accessing the same file (via network drive letter), it does not happen, but it does happen on the local machine where the file is stored!  Any suggestions Pierre?  OS it is happening on is Vista but it has run fine on it before.

Timeline view of changes (in calendar or gantt chart)

One good thing for the roadmap would be a 'timeline' view of what you created/modified during a given time period.  Evernote v2, for all its faults, had a nice little draggable timeline with little arrows on the date/time where you added/updated items.  This is a good 'journal' type view of what you did, and (for my purposes) is a good report of 'key tasks completed' for things like reporting etc.

You could use the gantt control for this or even the calendar control for a more low level view of what items you were editing on a given day (along with a link so you can view the note).

On a gantt view you could even have little icons showing events (a tick symbol for when you mark an item as done, a new item icon, etc).

The view would be aligned to a grid, and allow you to filter by top level items or include children of x levels, so the view is detailed but not crowded.  Or perhaps it woul

How do you view PDF/DOC/XLS?  In the HTML pane, when I File>Open any of these formats, I see gibberish in the HTML pane.

There is a small bug, that you must be in browse mode when you do File>Open.

Save and recall arbitrary/manual sorting

Submitted by Armando on 2009/06/20 13:19
There have been some discussions in the past about that. It's a pretty important thing since it can really slow down the work flow... Some users complain that their arbitrary sorting (often done between 2 refresh, when sort filter is on) is often disrupted by a refresh.

At the moment arbitrary/manual sorting has to be done (and is recorded) when the sort filter is off. However, this is not always convenient. It would be nice to be able to save a particular sorting -- even when the sort filter is ON.

Here's my proposed solution :

  1. Using a special field for "arbitrary" sorting would be the solution, IMO. (The simple manual/arbitrary resorting of a bunch of items could recorded in a separate field -- like the # column, if it could be used as a "field").
