I created my own IQ toolbar. Very handy.

Is it possible to make a button to add to the toolbar for

Text forecolor = NONE.

<Reason being>

I mark a lot of items in different colors as the job progresses.

Later I want to be able to simply select them all and then change their colors to none (back to black in effect.)

Yes, I know it's only a couple of clicks but it would be nice to have it on the toolbar as a single click.

The Text forecolor is in the command menu but not any of it's color (and the none) selections

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Maxbear,

Lots of options to do what you want:

  1. Removing the item color is a 2-click affair

    • Click twice on the highlight text button, or
    • Click on the Item Color button and click on (None)
  2. If you use the Properties pane, simply erase the value in the ItemColor field
  3. Show the ItemColor field as a column in your grid, you can then
    • Erase the color values
    • Filter on color values
    • Use the Find Filter dialog to select all items of a given color
  4. And last, you "can" have a button to clear the color. Use the Toolbar Customize command to drag the "(None)" color entry to a toolbar. Assign an icon to it. Contact me if you need help with this

Oh boy. That is so cool. Thank you.

That's the great thing about IQ.. By learning a small thing you get an insight as to how to do many more things with the same tools.

Much appreciated.

....and I'm back.

I can't seem to get #4.

From where do I drag the "(None)" color entry. I have my toolbar ready but not having any luck getting the correct "(None)" color entry to drag.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Ah...so close. 2 problems.

1. I mentioned the button was for Text forecolor = NONE.

The video shows for Item Back color. = NONE

Yes, I suppose the technique would work for Text forecolor however that leads me to problem 2

2. I don't get the full drop down menu after I choose customization - I only get the color palette

Puzzling.

Any help would be appreciated.

I've seen that. It is works sometimes, in particularly after a program re-start. Fixed in the next version, I'll release this minor fix shortly

Pierre: Thank you for the quick work.

Sadly the Burton does not work. I followed the video guidance and was able to make the button <NONE> as per the video I changed the icon.

However when I click the button it does nothing. No changes to the text occur.

Am I missing something?

you're right... 😢

I was checking for item color, which works, but not for item text color. I'll see what can be done, it may take a while though, so perhaps explore the other options described in this thread

or show the ItemForeColor field in the grid and delete the values

You could also create a Y/N field (checkbox) and clear the color using an auto-assign rule

In the next version:

  • New: Toolbar Customize now supports creating buttons for specific colors (text color, back color). Click on a color dropdown and simply drag a user color to a toolbar. User colors are those that appear first in the list
  • New: Grid: Option to set the Highlight color
How do I ?
