I successfully setup Google connect to my Google account.

As expected I got a security alert saying

InfoQube IM was granted access to your linked Google Account - no problem.

So far ok. I can see my tasks and calendar events list.

However IQ says at the top left. Connected to (unknown e-mail address)

And when I check connection IQ says failed to connect.

I think I'm missing a step.

Any advise would be welcome.

Hi,

  1. Does the Google Connect dialog show your Calendars and Task list ?
  2. If you set the sync settings for a Google Calendar, do the events show up in the IQ Calendar ?

In Reply.

1. The Google Connect dialog shows my calendars and tasks (I think that's what it is showing)

2. I set the sync for a Google calendar (there is a tick next to Google) I made a entry in Google calendar - did a sync but nothing showed up.

Thanks for looking into this.

Returning to my IQ Google connect problem.

I just recently started to use the date function in Google Keep and keep smoothly syncs with Google calendar automatically.

Any note in Google keep with a date / time set appears automatically in Google calendar.

Obviously because IQ has Google connect I want to see my Google calendar tasks in IQ.

As I have written before I have tried to get IQ Google connect working but it does not work at the moment.

The status consistently says I am connected to (unknown address) and the check connection always fails.

I have never been able to get any further than that.

Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

Hi!

In v122g:

  • Fixed: Google Connect dialog was not able to connect to a Google account for some users
  • New: Calendar: Google Sync: Numerous improvements

This is a important notification to anyone (or organization) who is using Google calendar reminders or Google assistant reminders.  Google is shutting these to programs down.

May 22nd - no more calendar or assistant reminders

June 22 - Shutdown of ability to export your cal - assistant reminders

See Youtube link https://youtu.be/1ThmS79Gkk8

Now If you use Google Tasks and have a Workspaces admin account (I do) you can have Google automatically migrate these reminders to Google tasks.

So objectively this severely reduces the usefulness of the IQ Google connect link as IQ does not have a linkage to either Tasks or Keep.

Pierre has said he is working on a Google Keep link (and hopefully a Google Tasks link too)  - That's good.

This announcement puts the ability to connect IQ to Keep & Tasks into a somewhat time critical mode. Our org use Cal and assistant reminders all the time- Hundreds of reminders a day. We are now scheduling Google Tasks training sessions .

Hi Maxbear,

Thanks for bringing this up. But... in fact IQ is not affected at all as it has no links to Google Calendar Reminders

The other point I'd like to clarify is that IQ does link to Google Tasks. In summary:

  1. IQ syncs with Google Calendar. IQ items and events become GCal events and these can have reminders (up to 5)
  2. IQ syncs with Google Tasks. IQ items become GTask tasks. The only current limitation (imposed by the Google API) is that Tasks with times will lose their time information when syncing from IQ to Google. See Managing Tasks
  3. The light-weight "reminders" were never well implemented on Google side of thing, never had an accessible API and I'm not surprised that they are putting it in the Google graveyard
  4. The good thing with this, is that "perhaps" Google will improve the good-old Tasks service, which is rather old and outdated (when compared to other offerings)

HTH !
