I read the documentation Multi-Select Pop-up Lists (https://www.infoqubeim.com/drupal5/node/3272) but I am confused .

First, I am guessing that there are some typos because "ListTypes" and "ListTags" seems to be mixed up?

Anyway, I followed the instructions and created the items in the pop-up list by entering them in a separate grid.
This worked. However, I wanted the popup items to be yes/no fields. Is this possible? If so, how do I do this?

In other words, if I have created several yes/no fields, how do get them to be the items in the Multi-Select Pop-up Lists?

p.s. After almost 30 years with Ecco it is extremely  difficult switch gears and convert my Ecco brain to an IQ brain.......

Hi viking,

I'll review the doc, it was written a while ago...

Regarding the feature itself, at the very top it says:

"It is possible to easily assign multiple values in single text field"

It will then store multiple text values within a single text field, in a user configurable format. So I don't understand how you want to use this to store multiple y/n fields. Perhaps you can explain in more details

Per the documentation:

Multi-Select Pop-up Lists

When categorizing information, it is often useful to assign multiple properties to items. InfoQube provides many ways to do this, namely:
  • Placing the item under more than one parent, the parent being a category description
  • Assigning it many yes/no field values. Each field representing a category

I may have misunderstood. You were just giving other examples on how to assign multiple properties to an item. I read it as this was something that could be done with the Multi-Select Pop-Up Lists.. ;-(.

Also, what is the purpose of the "Sync matching Fields" in the Multi-Select Settings?

Can Tags be used in a "Multi-Select Pop-Up Lists" or some other version of it?

(I don't fully understand Tags yet, but I believe that they are similar to yes/no fields).

OK. It still talks about Tags but it doesn't really refer to Tags.

Did you see my other question? Here it is again:

Can Tags be used in a "Multi-Select Pop-Up Lists" or some other version of it?

(I don't fully understand Tags yet, but I believe that they are similar to yes/no fields).

I am sorry, but this is still very confusing.

1. I follow the instructions and create a Grid "ListTags"
2. In Field Management, I follow steps 1-6.
3. I now have a Pop-Up list for multiple text values (not Tags!).

4. I create an item and assign two text values to it. No tags are of course created.
5. I then have to go back to the Field Editor and convert to Tags.
6. This works, the two text values for that item are now converted to Tags (not exactly converted because the text values remains).

7. I next create another item and assign 3 text values to it. However, no Tags are created unless I again go in to Field Management to convert to Tags.

Is that how it is supposed to work? Do I have to go in and convert each time after I add a new item with text values from the Pop-Up list?
Isn't there a way to have a Pop-Up list of Tags rather than text values so that I don't need to convert each time after adding a new item with text values?

p.s. Belated Happy Thanksgiving!

Here is a separate confusion regarding "Auto-List of Values"

"Auto-lists, as the name implies, is generated automatically, based on previously entered field-values."

1. What are the previously "entered field-values."? Maybe you mean the text values in the list?
I tried it, and it seems to work just like in Ecco. I will manually add the items to the Pop-Up list. If that is correct, the name "Auto" is confusing (it implies that the list is automatically generated somehow).

2. However, it is still not clear what "Sync matching Fields:" will do. What Fields are synced? Again, maybe you mean the text values in the list? If so, I still do not understand what is being synced. I tried it checked and unchecked and noticed no difference when I added/removed a text value from an item.

3. How do I remove a text value from the "Auto-List"?

Why not come to the Coffee Shop, it will be easier to explain live (or at least let's chat on Discord, more efficient than here and it won't bother other users with this thread)

Don't confuse the multi-select popup with the new tag system. It is for the old WikiTag system (as is well explained in that doc page). There is no relation between this with the new tag system. It is for multi-select of text values, all stored in a single text field

w.r.t. auto-list. List of item shown in the dropdown comes from the data entered in that column (field). Should be clear no ?

OK.. From what I understand then, it is currently not possible to have a Pop-Up list with Tags.  The only way to add Tags to an item is from the Tags List.
A feature request then would be to have a Pop-Up list for Tags!

I had posted in the Coffee Shop thread, but my post is gone!?

When is the next Discord/Zoom meeting? Are they now only on Discord (no longer Zoom)?  How long do they last?
12 PM EST is too early for me. I could possibly join at 1 PM if it is still going on at that time?

Hi Viking.

The coffee shops have been on every Thursday, so the next one will be Dec 2. They'll generally last from 60-90 minutes, depending on what there is to talk about, and if all 3 of the "regulars" show.

The forum coffee shop thread is updated prior to the Thursday meeting.

We start in Discord, and then sometimes move it into a zoom meeting from a link in discord. The zoom meeting is limited to 40 minutes at a time, so generally we'll go into a second zoom meeting (accessed from a direct message Pierre sends in Discord on eh top "home" icon).

Take a look at the iq-coffee-shop discord text channel, to see how Pierre posted the link for the first 40 minute zoom meeting this past Thursday. He then had to direct message me the link for the second zoom meeting.

If we don't go into zoom, the chat takes place in one of the  voice channels, the lounge or the meeting room.

it's very likely the coffee shop will still be going at 1PM EST, so you can go into Discord and check.

Keith

OK. Thanks, Keith. I chatted with Pierre on Discord yesterday. Very helpful.
I prefer to have the meeting late in the day (the later the better but before 8:30 PM EST if Thursdays), but I understand that it may not be convenient for others?

so the next one will be Dec 2.

Will there be cake at the coffee shop (Dec 2nd is my birthday :-) !)?

How do I ?
