I found I could use 'hoist on -> Alt-Left once or a couple of times -> hoist off' but it creates a lot of visual feedback, I'd love to have a mostly invisible way of doing this. Thanks!
No need to Hoist... Alt-Left or Shift-Tab as many times as required
In the Properties pane, right-click on parent and select Delete Parent link (ensure the item meets the source though). You may need to refresh the grid
Thanks. For far-down / high-level children, it's quicker with hoist + easier to return focus to parent item. I think I'm going to work around using auto-assign.
